Teleradiology is inherent to the system and available without the need for a separate server or application software on the user's computer. Synapse allows the referring physician to utilize the same viewer as the radiologist, in Internet Explorer, without downloading special applications. Teleconsulting is integrated into the Synapse, allowing the physicians to communicate with each other about cases.
Images up to 5 years old will be instantaneously accessible without having to retrieve the image from electronic storage. This allows for rapid comparison with prior images. In addition, for comparison, any number of prior studies can be loaded simultaneously on the same screen, a feature not available on any other system.
